Tags allow you to save a specific version of your document design that you may want to refer back to or reuse later. They are especially helpful when you want to retain a copy of your current design before making further updates.
For example, if you are designing a template and want to keep a copy of its current state before sending it for testing, you can create a Tag. This tagged version is stored under the Versions section and can be viewed even when you are working in other versions such as Draft, Testing, or Published.
Tagged versions are restorable, and once restored, they can be edited just like any other working version. This makes Tags useful for maintaining design checkpoints without restricting future modifications.
In short, Tags help you:
Retain important versions during the design process
Revisit and restore earlier designs whenever needed
Continue editing after restoration without limitations
How to Create a Tag? To create a Tag for your document version in Perfect Doc Studio, follow these steps:
1. Open the Versions section of your document.
2. Click the “+” icon to create a new Tag.
3. A modal will appear asking you to choose the version you want to tag and to enter a name for the Tag.
4. Once the details are filled in, click Create.
5. The Tag will be added to the Versions list, along with information about who created it and the date and time of creation.
6. Additionally, once you create your first tag, whenever you send a document for Testing or Published, the system will prompt you to either create a tag for the current version or skip and proceed.

Understanding Tags:
Let’s explore in detail how Tags operate:
1. This is the current version of the document we are working on.
2. We have now made some updates to the document design.
3. When we click Send for Testing, a modal appears asking whether to create a Tag or skip and proceed.
4. We choose to create a Tag and name it “Version 03.”
5. The version containing the latest changes is now moved to the Testing environment.
6. Next, we open the Tag named Version 03.
7. Here, we can see that Version 03 reflects the previous version: the state of the document before the latest changes were sent to Testing. This is how Tags work by default: they always capture the version that existed prior to the current edits.
8. If needed, you can also create a Tag for the Testing version by selecting that specific version from the dropdown menu during Tag creation.
