To prevent unnecessary usage of document counts when
variables are left blank, the Data Validations feature is available in
the Preview & Download section of the document template.
In this section, you’ll find two tabs: Preview and
Download and Data Validations.
Accessing Data Validations:
Click on the Data Validations tab to view all the
variables embedded in the template.
Each variable is displayed along with its maximum character
length and required checkbox status.
Customizing Variable Settings:
- Users can override global variable settings, such as maximum
character length and required status, directly in the Data Validations section.
- These changes will apply only to the specific template and
will not impact the global variable settings.
- When a variable is overridden, a red dot appears next
to the variable, indicating that the setting has been modified for this
template.
Example:
If a variable's maximum character limit is set to 20 and an
input exceeding this limit is provided, the system will fail to generate a
preview or print the document. An error will be displayed indicating that the
character limit has been exceeded.
Required Checkbox: As explained in the Manage Data
Variables section, enabling the required checkbox ensures that a value must
be provided for the variable to print the document.
In the Data Validations section, you can toggle the required
status for each variable specific to the template. If no value is entered for a
required variable, the system will throw an error and prevent the document from
being printed.
This feature helps maintain control over variable settings
and provides visual feedback for overridden variables, ensuring error-free
document generation.
